About

Hello! I’m Emily and I’m a recent graduate and furr-ever dog mom.

I adopted Lilly in October of 2009. She was only three months old, and was living at her foster [angel] parents. Lilly’s destiny before her angel parents was to be bred in a puppy mill, starting January 2010.

Since then, Lilly has grown to be the life of the party, a sweet dog, with a mind of her own. She’s allergic to chicken and beef, so her diet is very strict. She is a wallflower and prefers to stay home with family rather than meet new friends. She knows her type and she sticks to it. Lilly is the rudest, gentlest, sweetest diva you will ever meet!

At the end of May of 2016, Lilly become very ill. Lethargic, weak, wouldn’t eat, and just wasn’t my happy, sweet Lilly. After believing it was a bladder infection, Lilly’s blood tests came back with a very high, dangerous glucose level. She was then diagnosed with diabetes.
Diabetes? My baby cannot have diabetes!! But, she does. Diabetes does not define Lilly. Lilly is not diabetic Lilly.  Lilly is Lilly.

It was a rocky road to get her diabetes under control. And Lilly’s story isn’t over yet.
In June 2017, Lilly was taken to The Ohio State Vet Clinic for skin lisions, a scabby and swollen nose, and difficulty breathing. After a biopsy, Lilly was diagnosed with Cutaneous Lymphoma in July 2017.
Her treatment options are difficult because of her diabetes. But still, her diabetes and cancer does not define her.
I wanted to create a place where people going through what we went through have support and can find accurate information.
This blog will follow Lilly’s daily life as we maintain her diabetes and keep her as healthy as possible.
